Kratom has been taken by many people for its benefits but it has some risks as well and most people avoid such medicines or herbal remedies that involve health risks. If a drug has the ability to create damages to any part of your body, you will never consider it even if it has a cure or benefit for you as well.
Kratom is another important substance that is used to get energy and has been successful in this. However, it is also known to be harmful for the liver. Because the liver is a part of the body that plays a vital role in cleansing the blood and the body’s metabolism, many people are hesitant to use Kratom because of its risk in creating toxic effects on this important organ.
Kratom And The Liver
The liver is an organ through which blood passes, carrying nutrients or toxins and transforms them into useful material or a waste. Now the question arises of whether or not the Kratom we are talking about is really harmful for the liver.
Kratom consists of alkaloids, which are naturally occurring substances. They also pass through the liver when taken by the person. The liver processes the alkaloids and is not harmed by them unless it is overdosed. If the correct doses are taken, it would work properly as well. As every substance is sorted and expelled, the liver also processes the alkaloids in the same way.
Evidence of the toxicity risk created by Kratom in the liver are present as there were a few incidents of this occurring. Some people have suffered from cases of intoxication in their liver because of Kratom but there were only few persons with such cases.
Kratom Is Not The Cause
The cases have been seen in which Kratom caused cirrhosis in the liver but there is an argument given by experts that cirrhosis is caused to people who have alcoholic livers at the extreme level. Cirrhosis is when scars on the tissues are created, which destroy all the cells of the liver. There is no study yet that can prove that Kratom is responsible for the creation of scars in the liver.
Also, when the cases of cirrhosis were observed, it was found that there various other factors involved that caused that and Kratom was not the reason for the damages in the liver.
Kratom Is Not As Harmful As People Think
If overdoses of Kratom happen, it would not harm you as much as people have made it out to be. This will cause pressure on the liver and the processing of expulsion of waste will slow, but after some time, it will return to normal as a liver has the ability to regenerate itself from any poor condition very quickly. If you are confused about Kratom dosages, then it will be better to use the amount of dose and try to take maximum of 2g or 3g.
